Goodbye my Friends

Hey people.

Yesterday was the last day of school.

Really sad…

I’ll miss all my friends so much!

Remember people, don’t be a stranger. If there is ever anything you need, anything at all, please come to me or any past 2-3ians.

I know people like Jun Sheng feel that our class has no class spirit, so do I a little. Regardless, I’ll still miss all the friends I made over these two years. People like Andrew and Jia Hao and so many others…

And my old teachers too.

I went back to see 2-3 (the class) today before debate training.

It looked so empty and quiet.

Just yesterday it was so noisy and lively, for the very last time. At least for us, 2-3 ’09…

It hurts to say goodbye sometimes.

Then NZ and HZ going NJIP, so they won’t be in CHS next year…

Gonna miss those two idiots…

Wonder what new friends I’ll make next year, what new clique I’ll join…

Will they be anything like the good friends I have now?

So many worries…

Parting is such sweet sorrow.

I guess this is farewell.

Defeat Avenged...
Hello ppl.
Got Chinese results back today.
Must say I performed better than expected.
For one I managed to beat HIM.
A completely unexpected victory, but no less appreciated, especially after science.
Never thought he would be so completely outclassed in his best subject... I was actually anticipating to be routed and suan-ed by him.
I feel hyper-competetive, but that's not neccessarily bad I guess...
Tmr got PB camp, have not packed yet.
Sunday going to play basketball I think... want to 1v1 ongck and win somemore...
I really think I'm getting too competetive now....
Anyway, I'll see you guys soon after the camp that is.
Ciao!

Battle Of Basketball

Hey people.

Went to play basketball yesterday.

CYY, OWZ, Bobo, Wei Liang, Andrew (Lee), JS, You Xin and me to be precise.

Played okay in a team yesterday, managed to shoot in a couple.

But the highlight of my day was when I played 1v1 with Jun Sheng.

I won! 2 to 1!

The entire affair lasted for an hour and really sapped me of my energy.

Had very little left to spare by the end…

My stamina’s not as good as before, but I managed to use it to wage a battle of attrition, but not to much success…

My victory was due more in part to Jun Sheng’s horrendous shooting than skill on my part.

If it were anyone apart from Jun Sheng, maybe Xie Nan Zheng or Bobo, 10 minutes would have been enough to crush me, much less an hour.

But I managed to restrict and almost match OJS blow for blow by marking him tightly and I’m proud of that (I don’t really have much else to be proud of).

Hope I can take on CK and maybe HZ next.

Then if I win, which is unlikely, I will know that I’m the best of the worse!

Which is nothing to be proud of, but still, it seems like an accomplishment to someone who only started playing basketball this year…

Oh, after that, there was an incident.

Jun Sheng tried to shoot a three pointer. He missed of course. Then his airball almost hit a lady and her kid (the basketball ended up in the patch of grass near the construction site).

While we were busy apologizing, this lady’s wacked husband kicked our ball into the construction site, flipped his long, greasy hair, and glared at us. For a lack of a better term, his face was damn “qian bian”…

Then he just walked off…

CYY was pissed and wanted to confront him, but we (YX and I) stopped him in time.

Then while we were trying to get our ball back, this insane monkey man actually came back and made another round!

Don’t know why he did that, but I can tell you most honestly I was itching for a confrontation at that point in time.

Three reasons why that barbaric savage had no right to do that:

1) We were playing in a designated area

2) We apologized to his wife (presumably)

3) He was an adult! Why on Earth was he acting so immaturely?! Especially since he was dealing with a bunch of kids/teenagers??

I can understand that guy’s anger at his wife and kid’s (Again this is an assumption on my part) near accident, but the way he acted was completely unjustified and only displayed his complete immaturity and utter lack of restraint and social graces.

I mean even we, the “kids” in this situation handled it with a greater level of sophistication and maturity than that hot-headed baboon.

Ah well. Life is like a fruit cake, there will always be a couple of nuts.

Anyway, that was my day yesterday, going to play basketball again today, ciao.

Blog Action Day 0’9: Climate Change

Hi people.

Just found out that it is my duty as a blogger to do this thingamajig on climate change.

Here I go, my apologies if the essay does not meet your expectations, but its been a while since I’ve done an expo essay.

Climate change is a problem that confronts many countries; first world and third alike as we stride into the 21st century. Carbon emissions are at all time highs and the world population is set to grow to over 8 billion over the next few decades, certain facts that will undeniably compound the effects of climate change. The need for action is evident to all.

I will first touch on the effects of climate change before moving on to what we can do an individual level.

The effects of climate change are known to many, but felt by few. It is not the citizens of developed countries like Singapore that truly suffer from the effects of climate change and global warming, it is the farmer struggling to feed his family in Ethiopia in spite of the prolonged drought. It is the family of five on the Cook Islands trying to keep their home safe from rising sea levels. Climate change brings with it a host of unwanted side effects that cause a loss of human life, as well as immense economic loss.

Climate change has been linked with many natural disasters that have happened recently including Typhoon Ketsana that struck the Philippines and even Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Natural disasters are becoming more frequent and more deadly due to natural conditions being enhanced by climate change. Typhoons that used to kill a hundred people are now killing a thousand and causing billions of dollars in damage to boot. In addition, the ice glaciers at the poles are melting leading to rising sea levels. This will bleach corals worldwide and destroy ecosystems killing millions of animals and decimating species to the brink of extinction, something that must be halted at all costs.

We as individuals can play our part to stop climate change. “Never doubt that a small, determined group of men cannot change the world, indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” We need the help of individuals to stop climate change because there is only so much governments can do. America can sign the Kyoto protocol, but Americans must decide to switch to energy-efficient appliances.

1) You can convince your family to switch to energy efficient appliances. They may cost more, but in the long-term they will save money and the Earth.

2) Eat no meat for one day every week. The rearing of animals for meat is a major source of carbon emissions as well as a contributing factor to global hunger.

3) Take public transport whenever possible. It reduces carbon emissions.

4) Take part in Blog Action Day 0’9 to raise awareness and to develop a social conscience.

Anyone who takes geography should be able to tell you that Earth is the cradle of humanity, our home. We must protect it and preserve it for future generations. What we do or don’t do today, will determine the fate of the world and humanity tomorrow.

Okay Ciao!

I Have Facebook!

Hey People!

I have Facebook now!

But I don't really know what to do with it >.<"

Anyway, we had a briefing on sec 3 subject combo by a few teachers...

No offense to anyone, but Ms Foo made going to even double science seem like a complete humiliation...

Made me consider going to double science (bio-chem).

Ah well, there's nothing I can do about it...

My marks are already sealed as is my fate.

I can only hope that my best is going to be enough to pull me through because the science paper really was hard...

Maybe we'll get our marks back tmr.

Ciao for now.

EMO...

Hey people.

Kinda sad now…

I feel like a loser. A complete and utter failure in life.

I try to be optimistic, but there’s only so much one can do to keep smiling when it hurts so much…

I’m not sure if I’m incompetent, or my reserved personality is to blame, but…

I think it’s both to be honest…

I have great ambitions, but ambition without talent is useless.

I try to make up for my lack of talent with sheer hard work, but hard work can only take you so far…

Especially if you don’t really know what you’re supposed to be doing.

Then if you try to have initiative and help out, you end up being snubbed.

I feel like CYY…

I don’t want to emo, but EOY is really killing me…

My will is flagging and in shreds.

This is the hardest I have ever worked for almost anything, but it seems my best still isn’t good enough.

I heard that the percentage of the 1st in level is 87%.

Now you tell me how to beat that.

You can’t help but feel discouraged at the state of the world sometimes.

“Education is the great equalizer”

Doubt it. Nothing can be made equal, for the nature of the world is one of biasness and injustice.

If I seem bitter to you, I’m sorry, but it’s just how I feel.

Was supposed to post only after EOY, but I have a little time to spare now cause my homework is done.

I spent an hour to do it in school.

Anyway, ciao.
